Fairfax Iron

In the books, the location of Fairfax Iron’s headquarters is given as Victoria Street, in Westminster on the northern bank of the River Thames. It is also Fairfax who visits the trio rather than the other way around.

In real life, the TV version of Fairfax’s office is the 10th floor cafe in the Blavatnik Building, the distinctive tower added to the Tate Modern gallery in 2016. There are only 10 floors in the building, in fact, not 20, as stated in the show; the scene in the lift was shot in the building’s actual elevators, but with different floor numbers on the buttons and displays. However, as George says, the lift does open straight into the office (cafe) – a classy move! Although the impressive decorative grilles on the windows are still there, there are just cafe tables rather than modern art in the rest of the room.

If you want to recreate the staircase scene afterwards (“Sixty grand? He’s giving us sixty grand?!”), find your way to the main stairs rather than going back down in the lift – you’ll soon find the right curve in the stairs where the scene was shot (it’s the same on most of the floors on the way down).

COMING SOON! A Fairfax Iron building plan!
