Satchell’s is the agency ‘superstore’ and the place to go to purchase all ghost defensive devices, from iron chains to magnesium flares. Satchell’s is referred to frequently throughout the Lockwood and Co books.
In episode 1 of the TV show, we see Lucy pass by the Satchell’s shop, looking in awe at the impressive display of goods. We can only imagine Lucy’s thoughts on stepping off the train that day, the bustle, the noise, the grandeur and the sheer scale of London coming from a small town in the North.
We know this scene was shot outside of Waterstones Bookstore on Piccadilly, but did you also know that the book address on Jermyn Street isn’t wrong either? This is one of the largest Waterstones in the country, and has two entrances. The first is, as expected, on Piccadilly, but the second a rear entrance is on Jermyn Street! Same building, two different entrances!
It’s well worth a little browse, but give yourself plenty of time though because this branch is Europe’s largest bookstore and has over eight miles of bookshelves set over seven floors.
