The dramatic scenes where we see Bickerstaff’s Ghost are filmed in multiple locations. All the scenes are supposed to be at Kensal Green cemetery, however, the most dramatic scene is filmed in central London, under Trafalgar Square!

In short, Bickerstaff’s grave is located in the cemetery, which is where we first see his ghost. But when the gang return to the cemetery looking for George, the underground scenes are filmed in both Clerkenwell and Trafalgar Square.

Why would you film a murderous ghost in Trafalgar Square?

The imposing church on the east side of Trafalgar Square is called St Martin-in-the-Fields. Whilst not the biggest church in London, it is very important, and is particularly known for its community work with the homeless. Under the church and beyond are the crypts. This are large open spaces with brick-built vaulted ceilings. These crypts are open to the public and have been adapted so they function as a cafeteria. This eatery serves hot and cold meals, with all proceeds going to the church’s homeless charity. This is a spot we really recommend as it is spacious and by visiting, you are helping the city’s homeless population directly.

The scenes filmed in the crypt are the shots were the bone glass is working and the aftermath – including Lockwood’s appearance. Earlier scenes with George and Kipps were actually film at the House of Correction in Clerkenwell.
