Gordon Square

In this brief scene, Lucy and Lockwood pile into a night cab after eluding Golden Blade at the Fittes Ball, and head off to meet Flo and George at the river.

The location can be identified by the buildings going past the windows in the background, but as the camera cuts between Lockwood and Lucy, they sometimes seem to be in two different parts of the square at the same time, suggesting that they shot the scene with just one camera in the cab, filming one actor then the other, as they drove round and round the square, then edited the scene together later!

Gordon Square is very close to the SOAS library, aka the British Archives, and a street scene in Bloomsbury in episode 2 – an example of how the show seems to have been filmed in “clusters” around a few major locations.
